Pre & Post Procedure Instructions
Tooth Extraction Instructions
Before Your Appointment
- Eat a light meal 2 hours before
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior
- Arrange transportation if receiving sedation
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
After Your Appointment
- Bite on gauze for 30-45 minutes after
- Apply ice pack for 20 minutes on/off for the first few hours
- Avoid smoking for at least 72 hours
- Eat soft foods and avoid the extraction site when chewing
- Do not use a straw for 24 hours — this can dislodge the clot
Root Canal Treatment Instructions
Before Your Appointment
- Take any prescribed antibiotics as directed
- Eat a normal meal before your appointment
- Arrange transportation if receiving sedation
After Your Appointment
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until restored with a crown
- Take OTC pain medication as needed
- Mild soreness and tenderness is normal for a few days
- Call us if swelling develops or pain is severe
Teeth Whitening Instructions
Before Your Appointment
- Brush and floss teeth thoroughly before treatment
- Avoid highly pigmented foods 24 hours before
After Your Appointment
- Avoid coffee, tea, wine, and dark foods for 48 hours
- Use sensitive toothpaste if experiencing sensitivity
- Touch-up with provided home whitening kit as instructed
