Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

😣

Severe Toothache

Intense tooth pain can indicate an abscess, cracked tooth, or deep cavity. Do not wait — dental infections can spread quickly. We will diagnose the cause and provide fast relief.

First Aid While You Wait:
Rinse with warm salt water. Take OTC pain medication as directed. Avoid hot/cold foods. Call us immediately.
💔

Broken or Cracked Tooth

A broken tooth can be sharp, painful, and vulnerable to infection. Depending on severity, we can restore it with bonding, a crown, or other treatments.

First Aid While You Wait:
Rinse with warm water. Save any broken pieces in milk. Apply gauze if bleeding. Avoid chewing on that side.
👑

Lost Crown or Filling

A lost crown or filling exposes the underlying tooth to bacteria and sensitivity. Temporary fixes are available at pharmacies, but see us promptly for a permanent solution.

First Aid While You Wait:
If you have the crown, keep it safe. Apply dental cement (available at pharmacies) as a temporary fix. Avoid sticky foods.
🤕

Knocked-Out Tooth

A knocked-out permanent tooth can often be saved if you act fast. Time is critical — ideally see us within 30 minutes.

First Aid While You Wait:
Pick up tooth by crown (not root). Rinse gently. Try to reinsert in socket or keep in milk/saliva. Get to us IMMEDIATELY.
🦠

Dental Abscess

A dental abscess is a serious infection that requires urgent treatment. Signs include severe throbbing pain, swelling, fever, and a bad taste. This is a true dental emergency.

First Aid While You Wait:
Rinse with salt water to help draw out infection. Take acetaminophen for fever. Do NOT pop the abscess. Come in immediately.
🩸

Soft Tissue Injuries

Cuts, tears, or lacerations to the lips, cheeks, tongue, or gums from trauma. We can suture soft tissue injuries and assess for any related dental damage.

First Aid While You Wait:
Rinse with salt water. Apply gentle pressure with gauze. If bleeding does not stop within 10-15 minutes, go to the ER.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept walk-in emergency patients?
Yes! We accept walk-in emergency patients at all three of our locations. We make every effort to see emergency patients the same day. For fastest service, call ahead so we can prepare for your arrival and have a room ready.
What counts as a dental emergency?
A dental emergency is any situation causing severe pain, significant bleeding, a knocked-out tooth, dental abscess, or lost restoration. If you are in doubt, call us — we would rather help you determine it is not urgent than have you wait on something serious.
Does insurance cover emergency dental visits?
Most dental insurance plans cover emergency exams and X-rays. Treatment coverage varies by plan and procedure. We will verify your benefits when you arrive and discuss all costs before beginning treatment. We also offer same-day financing for uninsured patients.
